From 1 to 3 November 2012, Skidmore College will host a three-day symposium and training on implementing restorative justice on the campus.

Learning Goals for this Symposium & Training:
- Develop an understanding of the philosophy and principles of restorative justice
- Gain familiarity with restorative practices and models and discover how they are applied in a campus conduct setting
- Acquire strong restorative justice process facilitation skills
- Learn about the effectiveness of restorative justice practices based on current research
- Understand the relationship between restorative justice and “model” student conduct code and board process
- Explore practical “next steps” in implementing restorative justice in a campus community

- From Courts to Campus: The Evolving Field of Restorative Justice – Introduction to RJ concepts and the worldwide movement
- Restorative Justice Case Study – Description of a real case involving college students with video clips
- Campus Models of Restorative Justice – Overview of campus RJ practices including RJ administrative hearings, boards, conferences, and circles
- What Does the Research Say? – Summary of major RJ research findings exploring participant satisfaction and reductions in recidivism
- Restorative Justice and Student Development – A close look at the educational dimensions of RJ and its fit within the “model student code”
