McCreight writes out of her own experience of participating in almost 150 restorative justice circles in two rural Minnesota communities. A proponent of such circles, she describes the kinds of participants in circles, the overall purpose, and key values that shape and guide circle processes. At the same time, she recognizes challenges for restorative justice circles, and so she enumerates a number of questions to consider for effective use of circles in communities.
