The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) has been sending an inmate crew to Mt. Auburn virtually every weekday since Sept. 19, 2008. In May 2012, after removing 150 tons of debris, trash and brush, the governor of Maryland and the mayor of Baltimore joined an emotional crowd of citizens to shake hands with inmates and correctional staff and to praise the secretary of DPSCS for bringing this hallowed ground back from the blight of horrendous overgrowth and neglect.
