A manual describes the accountability approach to programs for delinquent drug offenders. Accountability, defined as assigning personal responsibility for the consequences of criminal behavior to its perpetrators, has gained widespread popularity as a unifying concept for many juvenile restitution, community service, and victim-offender mediation programs. Topics include: values, goals, and objectives for accountability; a suggested pilot project design; a listing of critical elements necessary for an effective accountability approach; resources for accountability programming and practice; assistance for technical aid and training; and ideas for program funding.
