In this summary of a presentation at a restorative justice workshop at the M’Wikwedong Aboriginal Friendship Centre (Ontario, Canada), the author (a Crown Attorney) contrasts Aboriginal (Native) justice principles and practices with Western principles and practices. He roots the contrast in the Native world view with its emphasis on relations between all things and people. He connects this world view with the relational emphasis of restorative justice and with Native practices, such as healing circles to deal with criminal offenses and related harms.
