This article consists of an interview with Jeston Katongo of the Mindola Ecumenical Foundation in Kitwe, Zambia. The Foundation is developing a program for peacebuilding and conflict resolution information. Katongo contrasts traditional Zambian conflict resolution with contemporary legal systems. He sees the traditional system as more oriented toward local community structures, relational restoration, and compensation. The Foundation is seeking ways to integrate traditional practices into its conflict resolution courses and into an increasingly urbanized Zambia.
