"In our case, we took the Circle process into a women's prison to support women who were "doing time." This guide is a result of that work. It reflects six years of experience in keeping talking Circles at the Volunteers of America Regional Corrections Center 9VOARCC) in Roseville, Minnesota. While serving as keepers for these Circles, we used metaphors to encourage Circle participants to discuss the values most important to them. Metaphors, including the ones we describe in this book, proved to be a powerful tool for engagming the residents in sharing their values and in exploring how they might apply them in their lives. With this in mind, we offer our ideas and experiences to those who seek to deepen their exploration of individual and shared values in their Circle processes." (excerpt)
