Kay Pranis asserts that the potential of restorative practices to transform the criminal justice system can only be realized if those practices move from the edge to the center of criminal justice. To accomplish this will require a broad base of community ownership and support for restorative justice principles and practices. Hence, Pranis in this paper identifies guiding principles and promising strategies for building community support. She also describes actual experiences where these approaches have been employed.
