The author observes that restorative justice takes its most familiar form in victim-offender mediation and reconciliation programs, often referred to as VORPs or VOMPs. However, restorative justice is not just victim-offender mediation ; it is a paradigm for understanding and responding to crime, and it includes many other practices. In this context then, he argues that mediation can contribute meaningfully to justice in response to the harm of crime.
