"The purpose of this paper is to describe a local experiment which tried to give some meaning to the enforcement of non-custodial sentences - or even the serving of a prison sentence - by re-establishing, on a small scale, the elementary foundations of life in society, the conditions for learning some of the rules for living peacefully in the community. It may well be an example of '1+1+1' promoted by Alexandre Jardin: 'I am not interested in the colour of the ballot papers of all these committed people, but whenever a man - or a woman - demonstrates their responsibility as a citizen through their actions, it really does something for me. So politically, I am on the side of sincere republicans who participate by getting involved."
