This article discusses the characteristics of the most commonly used program models, looking at some of their advantages and disadvantages and reaching conclusions about the best uses for each. Although this article discusses only two program models in detail, there are, in fact, many variations of these approaches. (One of the strengths of community-based justice programs is the potential for creative and flexible solutions that respond to the unique needs and circumstances of a community.)
