In 1977, Genesee Ecumenical Ministries and the Presbytery of Genesee Valley obtained funding to prepare a criminal justice curriculum for group leaders and participants designed to analyze critically present criminal laws and procedures of the criminal justice system; evaluate criminal justice in light of Judeo-Christian perspectives on justice, righteousness, and caring; enable more effective approaches to reconciling offender, victim, and community; and respond to the groups' own responsibilities for and abilities to help in building a safe community. The 14-week curriculum is designed to reflect biblical perspectives on justice, with one session building on another.
