The contributions to this volume span topics from the micro-analysis of emotions in violent encounters, to the paradoxes and tensions that arise with the emotionalisation of criminal justice in democracies. They analyse shame and pride in workplace bullying as well as in ethnic conflicts, or the process of desisting from crime; they are based on ethnographic analysis, qualitative, quantitative and experimental methodology; they have been research in different continents and cultures; and they use a wide range of theories that transcend the borders and limitations of criminological theory.
