The author remarks that we live in fear of our children. We have not raised them with sufficient empathy, and then we are surprised and outraged when they offend and show no concern for their behavior. The author argues that restorative justice provides a framework for us to re-establish a more appropriate relationship between community members and young people and to reduce the fear adults have of young people.
