This article is second in a series of three by Laura Mirsky about family group conferencing (FGC), a restorative process that empowers families to make decisions concerning the care and support of their children. In her first article she concentrated on an overview of the history and nature of FGC, as well as the use of FGC in child welfare contexts. She extends her examination of FGC in this article by highlighting its application in other spheres of life- including adult mental health, youth justice, domestic violence, and schools- in a number of countries. Additionally, she discusses in FGC theory and philosophy in more detail.
