In this paper, Derek Denckla begins by responding in the affirmative to the general question whether the criminal law can make room for forgiveness. Yet, he believes, more pointed questions remain. Can the criminal courts make room for forgiveness? If so, how would it be manifested? Denckla addresses these questions by exploring the opportunities for forgiveness provided by "problem-solving" courts. In this regard he looks at courts as a source of forgiveness, the creation of "problem-solving" courts, forgiveness in the "problem-solving" model, and the impact of forgiveness in "problem-solving" courts.
