This study illuminates how legality interpenetrates school governing technologies to juridify and criminalize school space and student behavior through, among other things, the proliferation and juridification of school rules, the symbolic violence of law enforcement-like practices that ground security and risk-management measures, the coercive contractualization of school rules and discipline, and the balanced and restorative justice self-governance practices deployed to rehabilitate student offenders. These juridified practices often may be found at the intersections of school governing technologies, with legality constituting the points of intersection. Author's abstract.
