After sketching some of the ways life in school has changed for young people over the last century, Randy Compton states that his purpose in this chapter is to look at some of the key issues facing young people in schools. Specifically, he examines how schools have changed over time, what life at school feels like for students, and what experts in the field believe about schools and students today. All of this sets the stage for showing why conflict resolution education is such a vital movement for making peace both in schools and in the world at large.
