Source: (2001) Pathways to JUSTPEACE 1 (November): 10. Newsletter of the JUSTPEACE Center for Mediation and Conflict Transformation, The United Methodist Church (Evanston, IL). Downloaded 8 June 2004.Donald Ott, a bishop in the United Methodist Church, shares his vision for churches as places of conflict transformation and peace restoration. Conflicts are inevitable, but they can be a gift from God, he asserts. A church congregation can be a place where conflicts are transformed into positive relationships. Hence, he hopes that some United Methodist congregations will become Peace Centers – places of conflict transformation and peace restoration. People engaged in relational conflict or suffering the aftermath of conflict will be able to contact the local United Methodist Church which is a Neighborhood Peace Center for peaceful resolution and restoration.
