Source: (2004) A Runnymede Trust Working Paper. UK: Runnymede. Downloaded 18 February 2005.The Runnymede Trust is a registered charity in the United Kingdom. Its mandate is to promote a successful multi-ethnic Britain. This working paper follows on initial research conducted and reported by the Trust in 2002 in the wake of racist violence in the early 2000s in England. In this paper, Sarah Isal outlines the current policy frameworks for community-based projects seeking to prevent racist violence. She also provides examples of projects based on a mapping exercise conducted in 2003-2004. On these bases, Isal presents exploratory thoughts on how a strategic framework, beginning with prevention work at the central governmental level, could yield results in local communities to reduce and even prevent racist violence.
