While conflict resolution education (CRE) is certainly not the solution to social problems, Jones and Compton find hope in it as an answer, an important answer. Hence, near the end of this volume of theoretical and practical essays, they comment on some of the larger lessons that emerge from the book, as well as some of the developments they would like to see in the field of CRE. They identify five larger themes: CRE can help schools build better communities; schools should seek to combine various approaches to CRE to get the most from them; flexibility is required to move between packaged CRE programs and philosophies of CRE in order to develop workable practices; there is a need for better CRE standards and accountability; and schools are looking for ways to expand and sustain their CRE programs.
