A departure from the punitive modes of traditional discipline, restitution emphasizes a positive process of learning from mistakes. Administrators, staff and volunteers believe that restitution helps students to be accountable for their own behaviour, to develop respect for self and others, and to strengthen their identity as capable, successful members of the community.
