The Youth Offending Team (YOT) is a key component of the youth justice system in England and Wales. Incorporating representatives from a wide range of government and social services, a YOT assesses the needs of individual youth offenders and identifies suitable programs to prevent further offending. Against this background, this document consists of a series of questions and answers put to the Wandsworth Youth Offending Team about the British government’s strategy with respect to restorative justice. It covers, among other matters, the main principles for the use of restorative justice in a criminal justice context, training for restorative justice practice, issues related to victims, and reparation by offenders.
