Pranis states in this article that interest in restorative justice increased dramatically in the mid 1990s across the United States and around the world. Likewise, application of restorative justice expanded from criminal justice to politics, the workplace, schools, and elsewhere. Pranis sketches many examples in the U.S. and other countries. She attributes these developments to a deep yearning for community and for a sense of security and trust.
