David Lerman is an Assistant District Attorney in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. He is one of two restorative justice prosecutors in Wisconsin. Moreover, he was instrumental in setting up a community conferencing program in Milwaukee. The aim of the program is to bring victims, offenders, and community members together to deal with the impact of a particular crime. This interview with Lerman covers a variety of topics: the nature of restorative justice; the need for and implementation of restorative justice in the criminal justice system; and specific restorative justice programs in Milwaukee County.
