Source: (1999) Paper presented at the 3rd National Outlook Symposium on Crime in Australia. Melbourne, 22-23 March 1999. Canberra, Australia: Australian Institute of Criminology. This paper sketches certain developments and findings with respect to restorative justice. According to Strang, restorative justice is a "third model of justice," and as a world-wide social movement it is surging. As examples, she notes conferencing programs in New Zealand and in Canberra, Australia. In this regard, Strang summarizes research findings from such programs; the findings deal with how both victims and offenders feel after participation in a conference.
