Experiments with restorative justice are a promising avenue for further exploration. The article discusses the retributive emotion of penal law, and mediation and community service. The author then considers the Restorative Model, discusses the search for its principles, and considers the role of restorative justice in democracies. After reviewing the empirical evidence on restorative justice, the challenges for extending the limits of restorative justice are presented.
