This paper describes some of the recent initiatives that have developed in the country, and then explores particular issues facing the field in a post-conflict society. Among the topics addressed are where restorative justice is best placed within society, how divergent schemes might interact with one another, and the balance of leading versus following community momentum. The snapshot provided is by an American who has been living in Northern Ireland for less than two years, and may not fully represent the range of opinions held by practitioners and advocates of restorative justice in the country.
