In this article Lenore Richards reports on changing perspectives on restorative justice among Canada’s national police force. In particular she looks at attitudes among police in New Brunswick and British Columbia. Initially, there had been considerable skepticism about the effectiveness of restorative practices. However, writes Richards, restorative justice initiatives across the country are overcoming doubts of police officers and others. Restorative practices – such as Community Justice Forums – are coming to be seen as effective solutions that satisfy victims and offenders alike, and reduce the risk of re-offending.
