The Thames Valley Partnership is a catalyst and facilitator for programs, services, partnerships, and publications. The aim is to reduce crime and the fear of crime in support of community safety in the Thames Valley. In 1999 the Partnership arranged a conference on restorative approaches to community safety. That conference included many presenters with practical experience in various criminal justice, restorative justice, and community safety agencies and programs. This document incorporates papers, workshop notes, case studies, articles, and other materials from the conference. The major sections of the document cover the following: a keynote address consisting of reflections on restorative practice; restorative approaches in criminal justice; the victim perspective; mediation services; restorative approaches in schools and with young people; restorative approaches in work with families; restorative approaches in the workplace; and restorative approaches in the community.
