There are a number of Scriptural bases for restorative justice. This article covers some of those bases: the promise of a new covenant; the old law and the new; being put right with God; a ministry of reconciliation; the story of the prodigal son; and the significance of Jesus as the foundation for deliverance and salvation. Each idea is explicated through a Scriptural passage or passages, then commentary and reflection on the Scripture. Also included in the article is a letter written by Rod Carter’s parents to the National Parole Board in Canada; it expresses both their acknowledgment of Rod’s actions and their commitment to support him in his efforts to turn his life around.
