The book is divided into two parts. The focus of the first part is on victim-oriented innovations in criminal policy in Europe. The focus of the second part is on restorative justice as a victim-oriented alternative to retributive justice. The first half of the second part concentrates on contrasting the retributive and restorative paradigms. The second half of the second part concentrates on restorative justice theory and practice, with particular emphasis on its orientation toward victims. The essays come from some of the foremost authorities in the fields of victim assistance and restorative justice.
