Source: (2001) A Synopsis of "The Spiritual Roots Project," an interdisciplinary research project of the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society, University of Victoria. Victoria, Canada

Under the auspices of the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society (University of Victoria), the Spiritual Roots Project came into being as an investigation into the themes of religion and crime, especially the multifaith dimensions of religion and crime, and with focus on the relationship between restorative justice and crime. A book grew out of the project – The Spiritual Roots of Restorative Justice (2001). This booklet represents a summary of the contents of that book. The booklet thus provides a survey of restorative justice, justice, and public policy; societal values in relation to law and the administration of justice; and the re-examination of the beliefs and values of various religious traditions with respect to crime and justice.
