The majority of the political parties in Norway are clearly in favour of the use of restorative justice and conferencing as part of the criminal justice system, especially when dealing with young offenders. Every year Parliament responds to the finance bill by underlying the importance of mediation and conferencing in the criminal justice system. Nevertheless, the number of cases referred to the mediation services is still limited and RJ still has no noticeable place in the larger criminal policy debate in Norway. (excerpt)
