The American Probation and Parole Association convened a focus group in March 2000 to examine and discuss the role of restorative justice in teen courts, also commonly called youth courts and peer courts. Participants included people working in teen court programs and people working in more traditional restorative justice-based programs. Based on discussions at that meeting, this paper provides an overview of the key issues that serve as a promising foundation for integrating more restorative justice-based practices into teen courts.
