The aims of this paper are to review the current techniques of restorative justice being employed in Barbados for juveniles and, using methods adopted in Uganda, present suggestions on how to further encourage its use. Barbados is viewed as forward thinking and progressive with regards its current use of restorative justice with young people, but it is also acknowledged that more needs to be done in order to fully utilise the method and as such improve its success. Uganda, although by no means a perfect system, encourages the use of traditional, community based measures when dealing with young offenders, and as strong link exist between the Caribbean and Africa, these measures are to be considered in the context of Barbados.
