The Bureau of Prisons has managed programs and services for crime victims since the mid-1980s. These programs are designed to provide inmates’ insights into the nature of the harm done to victims as a result of their crimes, and to encourage inmates to move away from a life of victimizing others. Data collection for this report was accomplished through one on-site visit, 11 staff interviews, and a review of Bureau documents and correspondences. A brief description of two community-based and three institution-based programs is provided. Author's abstract.
