This article introduces the New Zealand Council of Victim Support Groups, which work with police and government to provide practical and emotional support for victims as needed. Marie Knight, the group’s government relations and policy manager, expresses the centrality of the victim in the restorative justice and the importance of an informed process that allows healing and the acknowledgement of feelings such as anger.
