Caz Ford is a volunteer mediator with Bristol Mediation in England. In this essay she describes a new mediation project in Bristol involving young offenders. The project is called Voices, a designation that stands for “victims and offenders in conferences.â€? This mediation project is modeled on the family group conferences used in New Zealand. Ford discusses the mediation process in Bristol, benefits for victims and other participants in the process, conflict resolution in other situations, and the role of mediators in conflict resolution processes.
