The article discusses the use of restorative justice at universities and colleges in the United States. Restorative justice is defined as a blend of mediation and restitution that resolves conflicts by identifying the harms caused and devising an agreement to repair them through the use of suggestions from both victims and offenders. Restorative justice is common on many college campuses because it offers an alternative to traditional legalistic conduct systems and resonates with mission statements about community.
