The authors of this presentation describe an inter-agency approach to youth at risk and young offenders. They begin by observing that the Lichfield police came to realize in 1996 that different officers were dealing with the same youth and that they (the police) needed assistance from outside the police sphere. Hence, an anti-nuisance strategy came into being that involved the young person, his or her family, police, school personnel, and local area social services. The authors sketch some of the vital statistics about the operation of the strategy, its processes, key lessons learned, and the benefits of this approach.
