This essay describes how the present criminal justice system evolved in the United States, examines the biblical perspective on law, and provides a blueprint for comprehensive criminal justice reform. The objective of the system must be to help restore community by resolving the injury that an offender causes a victim. Although offenders should be held responsible for reparations to the victim, they should be removed from the community only if there is no other option.
