This article describes the Minnesota Department of Corrections’ efforts to implement restorative justice throughout the state. It is suggested that restorative justice is the logical extension of the community corrections philosophy and that its appeal stems in part from elevating the importance of crime victims and the community. It is hoped that Minnesota will become a national model leading to more enlightened criminal justice policy.
