“Conservative Protestants: Views of crime and punishment and their implications for corrections.”

Curry, Theodore R

Curry points to the significant influence of religious ideas and structures – primarily Protestant, and primarily theologically conservative Protestant – on public affairs, including crime and corrections. In this article then, Curry pursues three purposes: (1) examination of the beliefs of conservative Protestants as they bear upon criminal justice; (2) development of a conceptual base for researchers in understanding conservative Protestants; and (3) formulation of new research questions regarding the influence of conservative Protestants on criminal justice.
