O’Connor examines two closely related issues: (1) the relationship between religion, prisons, and offenders; and (2) the effects of religious programming on prisons, the community, and offenders. He argues that volunteer religious programs in corrections are crucial for three reasons: (1) they help change the lives of some offenders, thereby reducing recidivism; (2) they mobilize the community in society’s struggle with crime; and (3) they increase morale and pro-social behavior in prisons. O’Connor presents research data in support of these arguments.
Your donation helps Prison Fellowship International repair the harm caused by crime by emphasizing accountability, forgiveness, and making amends for prisoners and those affected by their actions. When victims, offenders, and community members meet to decide how to do that, the results are transformational.
