Skeptical of many movements advocating new approaches to justice, Reynolds nevertheless writes positively of a restorative justice initiative in Indianapolis, Indiana, targeted at youthful, first-time offenders. Reynolds first identifies three basic principles of restorative justice: restoration to the victim; offender accountability; and reintegration of the offender. Then Reynolds discusses the program’s focus on the victim and the effect of the program on recidivism.
