Conferencing models as Family Group Decision Making and the Restorative Justice Model are implemented side by side in the Netherlands. The innovations that are introduced in this way are a significant step forward in the development of the Welfare and the Justice system. Citizens taking responsibility for their situation is the common word for both approaches. To involve everyone connected to participate and being active in solving problems, are keywords for the outcomes of the process. In this way participation of citizens and community building is promoted. This approach is a paradigm shift and a big challenge for the way the welfare and justice system is organized. This workshop reports on issues in these implementations and results so far.
