Aboriginal Shield: Drug awareness program cuts across cultural boundaries.

Lenore Richards observes that police need to build partnerships with community organizations and individuals to respond effectively in many areas, including drug awareness and prevention among young people. The Aboriginal Shield Program is a consultative teaching and drug awareness program for use in aboriginal and remote communities in Canada. In this article Richards describes the involvement of police and community groups in the Aboriginal Shield Program to reduce and prevent drugs, aggression, and associated problems.
