As part of the youth strategy of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Musical Ride targets youth at risk to assist them in making positive life choices that steer them away from the directions of juvenile and adult offending. A new pilot program called “Stable Youthâ€? joins the RCMP Musical Ride, the Ottawa Boys and Girls Club, and the Ottawa-Carleton Regional Police in a collaborative effort to enhance life skills and positive choices for youth between 12 and 16 years of age. Richards describes this community project oriented toward crime prevention, a project that may become a court diversion program at some point.
