Judge Thorburn of Aukland has found that restorative justice is a very effective alternative to the traditional criminal justice system. Thorburn has noticed complete turnarounds in victims’ attitudes towards offenders after conferences. Victims often preferred employment for their offenders rather than the original sentencing. Overall, Judge Thorburn believes that restorative justice is a “much more sensibleâ€? option over traditional criminal justice practices that detach victims’ from the process and do not hold offenders to their actions.
